4.2 How Much Will the World Warm?

The world is expected to rise by 2-6°c by the end of the 21st century. However, this depends on the future use of fossil fuels and changes in solar activity, as well as natural factors such as Volcanoes erupting, which can lower atmospheric temperatures. It is therefore quite difficult to have just one model and as a result, scientists have developed several scenarios, depending on what future emissions trends are.

As we can see here the level of warming that we will experience depends a lot on what the future emissions trends are, and even still there is uncertainty within the models, so while we have an indication of what global temperatures may do, we cannot say for certain.
