The two largest emitters of carbon can work together to tackle climate change

Although much of the world has yet to recognise it, India has fast become one of the most important leaders in the global effort to confront climate change. Now, as President Barack Obama prepares for his second trip to India, I am hopeful that the conversations he and Modi will have on the issue will lead to greater progress for our two nations.
Green Growth
There is good reason why Modi has made sustainable economic development a major priority. According to the World Bank, Mumbai has the world’s largest population exposed to coastal flooding. Severe weather, heatwaves, storm surges and disease —all of which can be aggravated by climate change — pose enormous risks to India, as they do to the US and all nations. This is a common challenge, and all nations have incentives to confront it head-on.
